About Euphonix
Phoenix-based competitive barbershop—clean lines, locked chords, and contemporary storytelling.
Who We Are
Euphonix: Modern Harmony from the Valley of the Sun
Based in Phoenix, Arizona, Euphonix is a contemporary barbershop quartet that champions a fresh, energetic approach to four-part harmony. The group was founded in late 2024 when Curt and Ken reached out to Nathan looking to start a new quartet, breaking Nathan's 17 years in barbershop without being in a quartet. The lineup was soon completed by the addition of Janey—Nathan’s fiancée—solidifying a vocal chemistry that balances tight precision with genuine connection and friendship.
The name "Euphonix" is a nod to their roots and their mission: a fusion of euphony (pleasing sound) and Phoenix (their home). While they honor the barbershop tradition of locking and ringing chords, their repertoire is decidedly modern, heavily influenced by their love for musical theater. Audiences are just as likely to hear a Broadway showstopper or a pop hit as they are a traditional hit.
Despite being a new ensemble, Euphonix has already garnered significant acclaim, crowned as the 2025 Far Western District Novice Quartet Champions. Beyond competition, they are also committed to using their music for good, most notably producing the successful Harmony Across Borders fundraiser. Whether on the contest stage or performing for their community, Euphonix delivers a performance that is professional, prestigious, and undeniably fun.

Meet the Quartet
Nathan Crawford - Lead
The one aspiration that has eluded me until now is singing in a quartet. Euphonix has fulfilled this dream, and I am thrilled to be part of this ensemble. Sharing this experience with my amazing fiancé makes it even more special. I cannot WAIT to see what achievements we will accomplish together!
Curt McLees - Bass
After enjoying the spotlight in his high school’s elite chorus, Curt suspended his vocal journey for 26 years. Then a work colleague convinced him to come to a rehearsal with the Great Northern Union, a fine barbershop chorus, in Minneapolis. He was hooked at the ringing of the GNU's first chord and soon found himself competing with them in BHS competitions.
When work brought him to Phoenix in 2001, he immediately joined the Phoenicians chorus. He also sang with the PHX quartet from 2010-2012 for fun and competition, entertaining frequently in various venues and contests.
Another singing hiatus occurred from 2012 to 2020, which ended with membership in the Southwest Vocal Alliance Chorus. While with the SVA, Curt started singing with Nathan, Janey and Ken in 2024. Curt is enjoying the diversity of arrangements being sung by Euphonix and continues to improve his singing skills with each performance.
